The fulcrum recovery project...
helping people,
to help themselves.

How it works

How it works

As an established C.I.C. we are able to provide accommodation for individuals recovering from drugs and alcohol through housing benefit and universal credit. Self-funded residents may also be accommodated. Each application is considered very carefully and on an individual basis.

This abstinent living environment is designed to assist residents that are in the vulnerable stages of their recovery, offering a safe space where they can experience, identify and learn to regulate feelings and emotions. We provide ongoing support to bolster long term and sustained recovery. Residents will be supported and encouraged to actively engage with staff, peers and community resources. The long-term objective is that the residents will establish themselves back within their community, no longer reliant on public services with the goal of becoming fully independent and contributing positively back to that community.

While residing at the project residents can expect 1:1 sessions, with experienced staff. These sessions will inform each structured care plan, individually tailored to suit their needs. Weekly house groups take place, facilitated by a member of staff, to ensure the community continues to run problem free. Thus, offering a platform to address and resolve any issues, in a safe and constructive manner.

Support staff can advise and assist with:

Remaining abstinent from substances and other mal-productive behaviours
Introduction to local mutual aid support groups
Signposting to mental health services
Supervision and monitoring of health and well-being
Advice, advocacy and liaising
Personal finances, budgeting, benefits and debt management
Identifying assets, aspirations, hobbies and interests
Establishing social contacts and sourcing activities
Peer support and mentoring
Accessing training/volunteering opportunities/developing skills/education
Time management and planning
Developing and maintaining domestic skills for independent living
Information on local religious and cultural agencies
Help finding move on accommodation and securing a tenancy

Residents would be expected to stay from 6 months to 24 months, depending on their situation, needs and progress. They must be seeking to maintain recovery from substance misuse; have 28 days clean from all mood and mind-altering substances; be willing to remain abstinent while accommodated by the project;
engage with all staff facilitated support and attend regular mutual aid recovery groups.

In the event where we were unable to accommodate due to acceptance criteria not being met, we would attempt to signpost towards more appropriate accommodation.

Staff are on call 24 hours a day seven days a week via an on-call support phone.
